Pastelería la duquesita madrid

La Duquesita de Balaguer is based on three gastronomic pillars. On the one hand, the cakes, pies and desserts they sell maintain that balance between modernity and tradition in both taste and textures. There are traditional cakes such as lemon, apple tatin, Black Forest or Sacher, chocolate and raspberry in the Duquesita version, and exclusive proposals such as Texturas, with four chocolate textures and 70% cocoa; the Duquesita dessert, made of yogurt sponge with red fruits; the Tradición cake, with lime and gianduja or the Carlota, with strawberry gelatin and vanilla sponge.
By the way, each month they bring out a filled croissant based on the gastronomy of a country. I’ve tried the Indian (with curry and nuts) and the Greek (cheese and black olives) and they are to die for. Seriously. Really crazy.
The good thing, too, is that you don’t have to buy everything to go. The beautiful space has been remodeled by the Madrid in Love studio, mixing, again, tradition and modernity. The original mirrors, woodwork, counters and display cases have been maintained and restored, as well as the large central lamp. The floor has changed to a tiny geometric pattern in black and white, matching the bar and tables in black marble. An ideal corner to enjoy that quiet coffee we all desire with a sweet treat.

Despite its history, in June 2015, La Duquesita closes for the first time since its beginnings and thus concludes a first stage of its history. But it is a temporary closure. Six months later, on December 30, 2015, La Duquesita reopens in Madrid by Oriol Balaguer, who takes up the project with the aim of maintaining the tradition.
With this commitment, Balaguer creates a new menu for La Duquesita where traditional flavors, seasonal desserts, artisanal sweets, new creations and a wide range of chocolates and chocolates coexist.
With this objective in mind, La Duquesita maintains the original counters, showcases and mirrors that were refurbished before its reopening, as well as its large central lamp, and incorporates new elements with a classic profile: a white floor with black geometric motifs, a bar and tables in black marble, and light elements in polished brass, in line with the existing ones.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of attending the re-opening of one of the most legendary bakeries in Madrid, La Duquesita. For those of you who are not familiar with this pastry shop in the Alonso Martínez area, it opened in 1914, and I still remember the drama when I heard it was closing.
Oriol Balaguer, has decided to bet on something that today may seem risky but honestly, for us it makes perfect sense, as it is a project in which he is true to himself and his passion: chocolates, and dear friends, what chocolates!
He has managed to focus the attention on chocolate and turn the bonbon back into the premium delicacy that it is, with an exquisite selection of flavors and combinations such as crunchy, aniseed, orange, lime-mint, truffle… or our favorite raspberry-lichis, among others. Of course, always under the watchful eye of La Duquesita, one of their legendary cakes, which remains as unchanging as it is spectacular.
